The SW XBM runs on a handheld PC (PDA). The measuring instrument therefore consists mainly of the software, thus distinguishing it from all the measuring instruments produced so far. The main strategy in developing this measuring system was to produce a universal measuring instrument on which any physical quantity can be measured and not to force the user to acquire several different measuring instruments (pH meters, conductivity meters, etc.). The customer can now acquire an assembly that he or she needs at the moment and can add additional quantities in the future. Thanks to this versatility, this measuring instrument can replace simple single-purpose meters as well as highly complex top-class combined instruments. The system is designed so that the sensor (eg pH, ORP, ISE electrode, conductivity sensor, oxygen sensor, temperature sensor, etc.) is connected to the measuring head. This sensor assembly and measuring head is called an Intelligent Probe. Here the analogue signal is converted from the sensor to digital signal. This digital signal is transmitted via a cable to an interface that is built into the handheld PC (PDA). It is possible to measure the temperature with each measured physical quantity.
